FamilyFarms Group was awarded the Jersey County Business Association (JCBA) 2016 Business of the Year Award. The JCBA gives this award out to a member business that has had a positive impact on the community. The fifteen members of JCBA’s board of directors submitted nominations for Business of the Year, and the JCBA’s more than 75 member businesses voted to choose the winner.
FamilyFarms Group helped the community by participating in the yearly Angel Tree program, which provides Christmas gifts to those in need. The staff at FamilyFarms Group donated items that were on participants’ wish lists. Through the Angel Tree program, our staff members helped a family of six and eight senior citizens.
While the Angle Tree is a yearly tradition for FamilyFarms Group, employees also became aware of a need in the Jersey Community Backpack Outreach Program. This program helps feed children when they are not at school. According to No Kid Hungry, one in six households in America struggles to put food on the table. The Jersey Community Backpack Outreach Program provides kids food for after school as well as during the summer while school is not in session. FamilyFarms Group and its employees made personal donations to the program, and each donation made by an employee was matched by FamilyFarms Charities. In total, FamilyFarms Group donated $2,370, which included non-monetary donations like food and household items.
“We are proud to be in Jersey County and hope we are a positive influence on the community,” said Allen Lash, FamilyFarms Group CEO. “The real credit goes to our people. We are so fortunate to have such passionate, committed people that are committed to agriculture producers. We are honored to receive this award. The community means so much to us; we look forward to serving and being a part of the community for years to come.”
